Katy Perry : A pop voyage in Ottawa

The lights go out. A countdown appears on the screens, like before a space launch. The sound intensifies, the tension mounts… then a huge structure emerges from the stage floor, evoking the takeoff of a futuristic shuttle. And at the heart of this impressive setup, Katy Perry appears. In a split second, Ottawa disappears: we are immersed in her dazzling, fanciful, and perfectly timed universe.

On July 29, 2025, I attended her Lifetimes Tour concert, live in Ottawa. More than a show, it was a pop interstellar mission where every single element, from set design, to costumes, choreography, acrobatics, etc; told a coherent and fully developed story. A theme carried from start to finish, without ever losing its intensity.

A bold narrative universe

From the very first seconds, the stage set the scene: modular structures like a space station, glowing walkways, moving capsules and more! Giant screens extended the immersion, while each song became a new planet to explore.

SUITE22 Tip: Define a strong theme and let it guide every decision. That narrative thread is what gives your event a unique and unforgettable identity.

Spectacular costumes

Katy Perry’s looks, as well as her dancers, felt like they came straight from a cosmic runway: metallic textures, holographic reflections, futuristic accessories. Every outfit reflected light, amplifying the sense of a journey beyond the limits of the earth.

SUITE22 Tip: Costumes and accessories are visual extensions of your concept. They embody the experience as much as the scenography. Whether extravagant or subtle, they serve to express your event’s identity. Play with colours, shapes and visuals to make your visual identity stand out.

Fearless performance

The amazement didn’t stay confined to the stage. Hanging from a giant mechanical butterfly, Katy Perry soared above the audience. Aerial dancers, active musicians, creative use of height and depth. Every moment offered a new perspective and a surprise.

SUITE22 Tip: Use every dimension of your space. Height, width, depth, turn your venue into a fully immersive experience.

Genuine connection with the audience

Despite the scale of the production, Katy Perry maintained a sincere closeness with her audience: eye contact, gestures, heartfelt exchanges. Whether on the floor or higher up in the stands, everyone felt like part of it.

SUITE22 Tip: Create direct and interactive moments. The human connection is what transforms an event into a long-lasting memory.

Precision in every detail

Transitions were seamless, scenes flowed without pause, and every effect reinforced the story. Between technical professionalism and emotional warmth, the show left nothing undecided.

SUITE22 Tip: Pay attention not only to the highlights but also to the transitions. A fluid production keeps the public’s attention and energy alive from the beginning to the very end.

Key Takeaway

This concert illustrates the power of immersive storytelling. When the narrative is clear and embraced, it ties every element together, making it make sense. Scenography, costumes, lighting, interactions, all worked in favour of the event. The result? The audience isn’t just watching a show, they’re living an experience that they will carry within them for a very long time.

At SUITE22 Events, this is precisely  the approach we choose. Creating an event isn’t just about stacking moments and completing a checklist. Events are empowered by guiding every guest through a seamless, immersive journey from start to finish.
